Senior Media Systems Engineer

Arcas Technology is partnered with a leading Media company based in Surrey who are currently looking for an experienced Senior Media Systems Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis.

Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior engineer with a mix of technical expertise and operational skills. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic team to deliver cutting-edge video recording server networks, logging systems, and edit suites to prominent production companies and broadcasting clients worldwide. Your responsibilities will encompass both on-site engineering and operational tasks, as well as maintenance and setup duties at my cleints office in Surrey.

 

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrating and overseeing video server workflows, often centred around EVS and mRes equipment.
  • Monitoring and fine-tuning the performance of media servers, storage systems, non-linear edit suites (Avid, Adobe), and file processing delivery facilities.
  • Providing first-line support, including remote assistance, to swiftly address technical issues.
  • Mentoring junior engineering colleagues and offering guidance to media managers, operators, and production staff during operational scenarios.
  • Executing routine maintenance and systematic system checks on their supported systems.
  • Spearheading workflow setups as a project lead for outside broadcasts, production companies, and fixed rig environments.
  • Installing and operating video server systems on international projects.
  • Advising and overseeing clients on technical workflows.
  • Leading equipment preparation and project planning efforts.
  • Conducting equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Providing remote support through online and telephone channels for our national and international systems.

 

Skills Required:

  • Proven track record of delivering broadcast workflows under challenging conditions and at a large scale.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining computer systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong grasp of networking principles, including Routing, Switching, and the OSI model.
  • Technical reporting and drawing abilities.
  • Familiarity with EVS Broadcast Equipment and its integration with third-party applications.
  • Familiarity with non-linear editors (NLEs) such as Avid and Premiere.
  • Experience with cloud computing and virtual machines.
  • Prior exposure to shared storage systems and media asset management.
  • Media management expertise.
  • Cisco qualifications (CCNA/CCNP).

 

Travel Requirement

Given the nature of this role, travel, both domestically and internationally, will be necessary. Flexibility in accommodating travel is a fundamental requirement of this position.
